You may have tried one of the cat urine smell removing products that are on the market. A few of them do work quite well but they are not really addressing the fundamental problem.

Commercial products can also be costly. An effective home remedy is to mix 1 quart of hydrogen peroxide with one cup of baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) and a teaspoon of liquid soap. Mix carefully and decant into a spray bottle. Use the spray to soak the offending spot. ALways test a small and out of view area first to be sure that the mixtyure is not going to cause colors to run or fade.

Dealing with the Problem
Removing the smell is a good start.. Once the smell has been taken care of, you may feel better. But the problem will return unless you address the issue of why the cat is not using the litter box in the first place.
A cat may become afraid or reluctant to use a litterbox for several reasons. Typically, a change of litter type or a new litter box can cause the cat to start peeig elsewhere.. Cats are prone to urinary tract infections which can make it painful to pee. This in itself is enough to cause a change in the cat’s behavior.
Finding out what is behind this new behaviour is the key to stop your cat from peeing inappropriately and living in harmony with your feline companion.
